Squamish Nation Chief Ian Campbell and West Vancouver-Sea to Sky MLA Jordan Sturdy are part of the provincial government’s new task force on climate change, announced Tuesday.
According to Premier Christy Clark, the mandate of the committee is by November 30, to offer advice on improving the current Climate Action Plan while maintaining strong economic growth, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and continuing to foster partnerships with First Nations and communities.
There will be two public consultation periods on the committee’s recommendations, and by March 2016 the completed Climate Leadership Plan will be released to the public, according to a news release.
In addition to political leaders, the group includes academics, business leaders and mayors, among others.
