A man and a woman face assault charges after separate incidents involving alleged domestic violence in Squamish last week.
On Saturday (Jan. 12) at around 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a home in the 38000 block of Westway Avenue, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement. A 42-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a 60-year-old acquaintance after an evening of drinking. The suspect had left the scene by the time police arrived, but was arrested after returning to the home at around 10:30 p.m.
On Thursday (Jan. 10) at around 11:30 a.m., police attended a home in the 40000 block of Government Road in response to a report of a domestic dispute. At the scene, police arrested a 27-year-old woman for allegedly assaulting her 41-year-old husband, Pride said.
Stroller stolen
Last Wednesday (Jan. 9), police responded to a report of a green Chariot Cross Country baby stroller having been stolen from outside a home in the 37000 block of Third Avenue. The stroller, which had been left unlocked, was taken between midnight and 8 a.m., police said.
Items snatched from vehicle
Electronic devices were stolen from a vehicle that was left parked at the Cat Lake access to the Cheekye Forest Service Road on Wednesday (Jan. 9), Pride said. A passenger-side window was smashed and a Garmin GPS unit and Motorola cellphone were stolen.
Wire stolen from museum
On Saturday (Jan. 12), police received a report of a break, enter and theft overnight at the Britannia Mine Museum in Britannia Beach. A fence was cut, a building broken into and a roll of copper wire was stolen, Pride wrote.
Business site entered
On Monday (Jan. 14), police received a report of a break-and-enter at a vacant business site in the 1400 block of Winnipeg Street downtown. Two rear doors had been opened, but there were no signs of forced entry, Pride said. Nothing apparently was taken, but a silver and green Future Emperor mountain bike and a hatchet were left behind at the scene. Police are investigating.
