For that amount of money Mayor Ian Sutherland is prepared to have his head shaved.

Sutherland is helping the local Cops for Cancer initiative by challenging the community to donate $10,000 to the cause. If that amount is pledged towards the mayor's fundraising drive then he is prepared to let a set of shears loose on his grey speckled hair on Sept. 11 at Squamish Station.

Pledge forms are available at Municipal Hall on Second Avenue or online at www.squamish.ca.

The mayor's efforts are part of the Cops for Cancer Tour for a Friend and Const. Kim Janakka will represent the Squamish RCMP in the tour. Janakka is raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society's childhood research and child cancer victim support programs.

On Sept. 18, Janakka will join law enforcement personnel in Whistler and start a 600-km tour to draw attention to their fundraising initiative. The ride will pass through Squamish and Lions Bay on the first day then conclude with a massive ceremony six days later in Vancouver. The riders will log an average of 100 km each day with each cyclist paired with a child who has experienced cancer. The riders will carry a picture of their buddy throughout the tour.
