BC Ferries has announced that the last two round trips between Saltery Bay and Earls Cove terminals on December 24 will not sail due to a lack of available crew members. The following Malaspina Sky sailings will not be running:

7:55 pm departing Saltery Bay (Powell River)
8:50 am departing Earls Cove (Sechelt)

9:45 pm departing Saltery Bay (Powell River)
10:40 pm departing  Earls Cove (Sechelt)

"We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations," stated BC Ferries. "The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew. That said, if circumstances change and replacement crew become available, we will notify customers immediately.
