Many Squamish residents will be faced with new postal codes from Monday in what Canada Post calls an attempt to improve mail-delivering efficiency in the Squamish area.

Canada Post is asking people affected to use their new postal code on the return address of all according to a press release issued by Canada Post, it is not necessary for residents to discard existing supplies of pre-printed chequebooks and labels. They are, however, asking people to use their new postal codes when reordering these supplies.

To enable people to inform their mailing contacts of their new codes, free address cards are available at the Squamish Post Office.

Mail sent to the old postal codes will be rerouted for now; however, a representative at the Squamish Post Office said she was unsure how long this service would take place.

A spokesperson from Canada Post did not respond to attempts for comment.
