Sturdy off to Morocco

Sea to Sky MLA Jordan Sturdy is headed to Marrakech, Morocco on Thursday for the COP22 climate change talks, which open on Monday. Sturdy will represent B.C. in a Canadian delegation heading to the talks. While there he will pick up a The UN Climate Solutions Award on behalf of the Province, for B.C.’s revenue-neutral carbon tax, Sturdy said.
“British Columbia is home to North America’s first revenue neutral carbon tax, covering more than 70 per cent of the province’s emissions. Every dollar generated by the carbon tax is returned to British Columbians in the form of personal and business tax measures, making it revenue-neutral,” reads the UN press release about the awards. The initiative is honoured because it is a “game changer,” the release states.
