Health and fitness expo
Around 30 exhibitors from community recreation, health care and physical therapy, as well as trainers and local gyms, will be sharing health and fitness information, products and services at Squamish Health & Fitness Expo on April 7 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Totem Hall.
“Our goal is to have this event connect community members with the right health and fitness expert for their needs. Guests who are unsure of whether yoga,
massage therapy or spin class is a good match for them can talk with trainers and collect information,” said Lyndsay Hubley, Squamish Valley Recreation’s recreation manager. Money raised from admission and vendor tables will go to the Menkis Youth Group, a leadership program for teens. See the Facebook page “Squamish Health & Fitness Expo” for more information.
Whiskers and Wine
Who doesn’t like wine and cute, furry animals? The fifth annual Whiskers and Wine Fundraiser is on Saturday, April 8 at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park Roundhouse.
The event raises money to support the Squamish SPCA and will include local band The Shifters, wine, beer, appetizers and dessert, a silent auction and more. Tickets are at the door, at the local SPCA or online at
spca.bc.ca/seatoskywhiskersandwine.
Bus shelters made locally
It is sourcing locally in action. Squamish’s new bus shelters were fabricated within a one-kilometre radius from British Columbia Timberframe, a company located in the Northyards that designed, built and erected a portion of the new shelters.
The local suppliers involved include Combustion Solutions, which made the welded metal frames, while Fisher Coatings did the priming and black coating and Fraserwood Industries provided milling of the timbers.
Other companies, all located within a one-kilometre radius, include Triton, Rona, Speedy Glass, Cloverdale, Transport 99 and even Naked Lunch Express for serving countless coffees.
