No Squamish Search and Rescue calls over the weekend

Despite amazing weather and crowds, there were no incidents requiring ground search and rescue.

A minor miracle happened this weekend.

Despite the fantastic weather and big crowds in town, Squamish Search and Rescue reported that they did not attend any callouts.

Search manager B.J. Chute said there was nothing over Friday, Saturday or Sunday, but rescuers did come to the aid of adventurers before this past weekend.

On April 11, Chute said a trio of well-prepared sledders were out in the Tricouni area, when one of the snow bikers fell and broke his arm.
An avalanche and medical team came to the rescue and flew him back to Squamish to paramedics.

On April 14, rescuers were asked to help out RCMP for a man thought to be stranded on a log near Squamish Terminals. However, officers were able to take care of the issue, and SAR did not have to deploy.

Rescuers have been asking adventurers to be prepared, trained and bring appropriate supplies when embarking on their missions.
