A North Vancouver insurance adjuster is looking forward to travel, a comfortable retirement and the chance to buy the muscle car he’s always dreamed of after winning $2 million in the BC49 lottery.
Reality was still sinking in for Brian Fear, 63, this week after the Deep Cove resident checked the electronic lottery ticket he’d bought Jan. 26 and discovered an extra $2 million in his online lottery account.
“Your immediate thought is this is not correct,” said Fear, who’s been playing the online lottery once a week.
But when he actually called the BC Lottery Corp., staff told him there was no mistake, adding, “We’ve been waiting for you to call.”
Fear said both he and his wife are still working towards retirement.
The lottery winnings will help make that much more comfortable.
Fear said the couple plan to do some travelling. “We’re probably going to do one of those river cruises in Europe,” he said.
Fear added he’s dreamed since he was a teenager of owning a classic Dodge Challenger. “They’re beautiful,” he said.

He said he won’t be making too many hasty decisions on spending his winnings right away though.
“I think we’re going to sit and look at the balance in the bank for a while.”
