Deep Cove residents and visitors had quite the sight mid-Tuesday morning when a pod of orcas surfaced in the inlet.
Some members of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, including Dennis Thomas, went out on a boat to get a closer look at the killer whales.
“It was amazing to experience this as they were passing right in front of Cates Park where we run our tours,” said Thomas, who works with Takaya Tours.
The whales we see in the water are amazing but remember that there are rules regarding how close boats can be to these mammals. All vessels should keep at least 200 meters away from killer whales. https://t.co/a87OaI4vU0 pic.twitter.com/5GZYgDe2ag
