Local police are asking for help identifying a unique, recovered, stolen object and are looking for its owner.
“This very unique monument will have significant meaning and value to someone," said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP of the 80 inch-tall (203 cm) totem, in a news release.
“Police are very interested in returning this to its rightful owner.”
The object was discovered by RCMP officers on Monday, May 7, after they investigated a report of a suspicious man who was observed with what was described as a large, wooden, carved totem.
When police arrived, they recovered the item, but the man quickly left the scene on a motorcycle.
The lawful owner of this totem is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311, referencing police file number 2018-11030.
Police continue to investigate who was driving the motorcycle at the time of the incident.
