Drugs and break-in tools

Two Squamish males had drugs and break-in tools with them when they were pulled over on suspicion of impaired driving, Tuesday, Dec. 9 at approx. 2 p.m. on Highway 99 near Valley Drive, according to an RCMP report.

Drugs, believed to be heroin, and drug paraphernalia were found on the 37-year-old driver, and a number of tools often used as break-in instruments were also found in the vehicle, police said.

The driver was tested and found to be impaired, according to police.

Charges related to the break in, drug possession, and impaired driving are being pursued in this investigation. A 24-hour driving suspension was also issued.

 

Possession Of Stolen tag

A 41-year-old Richmond resident was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle tag when he was pulled over for speeding on Highway 99 and Valley Drive, Tuesday, Dec. 9, police said. 

The vehicle was found to have no insurance, and although it had a valid insurance decal on the license plate, the decal had been stolen from a vehicle in Richmond, according to RCMP.

The vehicle was towed, and the male was issued violation tickets for speeding and for not having insurance.

 

Bike Thefts 

A red and white men’s 21-speed Infinity mountain bike worth about $1,000 was stolen from outside of the library in downtown Squamish. The bike had been locked up at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.10, and it was reported stolen the next day. 

A gold men’s 21-speed Rocky Mountain Fusion worth about $500 was stolen from the Greyhound Bus station between Saturday, Dec. 6 and Thursday Dec. 11, according to RCMP. 

 

Business Break & Enter

A business in the 1100 block of Enterprise Way was broken into sometime between 5 and 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, police report. A shed in a fenced compound was broken into. Entry to the compound was believed to be through a cut made in the wire fence sometime during the past week. The shed was rummaged through and a number of vehicle keys were taken. A vehicle in the compound was rummaged through as well, but nothing apparently taken. Items were seized for forensic examination and video surveillance is being checked from the area. 

 

Attempted Break & Enter

There was an attempted break and enter at the General Store on Centre Road in Lions Bay on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Sometime between 3 and 7 a.m. someone attempted to pry open front and rear doors, causing damage to the doors, but not succeeding in gaining entry, according to police.
