Assault, possession of weapon

A man was arrested for assault and for breach of probation after a conflict with another patron at the McDonalds restaurant on Cleveland Avenue at 2 a.m. on  Wednesday, March 25, say Squamish RCMP.

The suspect was found after the incident at the side of the highway south of Cleveland Avenue.

A BB gun, believed to be discarded by the suspect, was discovered on the ground nearby, police say. The investigation of the assault and the BB gun is ongoing, police say.

DUI charge in accident

A man is facing a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle after a collision with a median on Highway 99 at Copper Drive in Britannia Beach at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, March 28, according to police.

Officers found a still running, but extensively damaged Nissan Rogue facing northbound. A man was standing beside and locked out of his vehicle.

The suspect told police that he hit the median. Police say he blew a fail on a breathalyzer.

DUI charge

A man faces a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle after a vehicle was seen by an officer on patrol failing to stop at two stop signs in downtown Squamish on Saturday, March 28.

The vehicle was pulled over at Hunter Place. The driver seemed impaired, according to Squamish RCMP. He blew a fail on a roadside test and then provided samples on a breathalyzer, which led to the charge, according to RCMP.

Storage locker B & E

Three separate storage lockers in the 38900 block of Production Way were broken into using a pickaxe on Friday, March 27. Police say the break in likely happened sometime in the four days before the discovery.

Police did not know at press time what was missing from the units but say the investigation is ongoing.
