A motorcycle driver heading northbound at the “Big Orange Bridge” was seriously injured and airlifted to a Vancouver hospital on Thursday, May 7, after he lost control and crossed over to the southbound lanes and crashed, according to police. No other vehicle was involved. The highway was closed briefly so the scene could be fully examined. The driver was found to have non-life-threatening injuries.

 Accident with injuries

A motorcycle driver and passenger were injured and airlifted to hospital after an accident in the southbound lane of Highway 99, just south of Lions Bay on Saturday, May 9, police said. A witness reported a possible impaired driver passed out at the wheel at Porteau Cove. When police arrived, the driver seemed drunk and there was an open beer in the centre console of his vehicle, police said. According to Squamish RCMP, the man refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

The man was found to be in breach of several conditions of probation as well, police said.
