Assault at store

A customer at Nesters Market grocery store was randomly kicked in the leg by an unknown man on Monday, June 1, according to Squamish RCMP. The man claimed it was accidental, however video footage showed it was deliberate and unprovoked, police said. The suspect also stole items from the store and ran off prior to police being called. The investigation is ongoing. 

Security guard shoved

A man trespassing on a fenced property in the 37800 block of Cleveland Avenue on Tuesday, June 2 shoved a security guard who asked him to leave, according to a police report. The man then attempted to “head-butt” the guard and then ran off, RCMP said. Police describe the white man as in his 30s who was wearing a brown coat and checkered pants. He had a light brown, mid-sized dog with him, police said.

Disturbance/arrest warrant 

After Squamish RCMP responded to a call about a shirtless man downtown screaming at people and acting aggressively toward them, a man wanted by the Vancouver police was arrested Saturday, June 6 on an outstanding warrant, police said. The shirtless man and another man appeared intoxicated, according to the report. Officers identified the men, who were fighting each other.

Theft of crabs 

People were seen and photographed stealing someone’s crab from their crab trap at Darrell Bay on Saturday, June 6, according to Squamish RCMP. The matter is being investigated.

 

Man fined for driving without due care

Martin Forsyth, 50, of Squamish pleaded guilty on June 4 to driving without due care and attention in an incident on December 6, 2014, when police say Forsyth failed to stop at a police road check on Diamond Head Road and was pursued by officers. He was given a one-year probation and a $500 fine, according to the report.
