Assault/breach of probation 

A man was arrested Friday, June 12 for assault, stemming from an incident with another man earlier that day at the Chieftain Pub, according to Squamish RCMP. 

The two victims were able to identify a suspect and police located him and arrested him at another location, police said. The suspect was found to be in breach of probation conditions as well, according to police. 

Charges of assault and probation breach are being recommended. 

 

Lotto thief confesses

A man turned himself in on Monday, June 8 and confessed to stealing lottery tickets after a posting on the Crime Stoppers Facebook page that described an unknown man stealing tickets at three different locations in downtown, police said.  

 

Washer and dryer stolen

A Samsung washer and dryer worth $1,500 was stolen on Sunday, June 14 from a house that was under renovation in the 1100 block of Wilson Crescent, police told The Squamish Chief. The house was locked on June 13 and the offence was discovered on the morning of June 15, according to police.           

 

Theft from vehicle

An iPhone, wallet and a duffel bag containing a wetsuit were stolen from one vehicle and a laptop computer, Samsung cellphone, 2,600 Euros, a backpack and a shoulder bag as well as two Polish passports were stolen from another vehicle in the parking lot at Garibaldi Provincial Park, according to police. The thefts occurred on Tuesday, June 9.

 

Guilty plea for assault

Gregory Joseph, 31, of Squamish on June 10 pleaded guilty to assault, stemming from an incident that occurred on May 15, police report. Joseph was given a one-year probation and a five-year firearms prohibition, and he was required to pay a $100 victim surcharge, police said.

 

Driving while prohibited

Lucas Calvert, 31, of Surrey pleaded guilty on June 11 to driving while prohibited on Jan. 16, according to police. He received a $500 fine and received a further 12-month driving prohibition.
