Theft warrant, Hwy 99 accidents, B&E/theft of scooter, bike theft and theft of toothbrushes

Theft warrant 

A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and on charges of shoplifting and assault on Friday, June 19 at Shopper’s Drug Mart on Pemberton Avenue, police said. 

Hwy 99 accidents 

Two collisions involving motorcycles occurred on June 21, one northbound at Lions Bay and one southbound near Murrin Park.  

In the first incident, the driver suffered injuries that initially were thought to be serious, but he was released from hospital later the same day.  In the second incident, neither of the two riders suffered serious injuries, however the highway was closed to southbound traffic for roughly 30 minutes.   

B&E / Theft of Scooter 

A grey 50cc Yamaha scooter was taken from the shed of a house under renovation in the 41300 block of Kingswood Road on Wednesday, June 10, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Bike theft 

Two Kona mountain bikes worth $6,000 were reported stolen from a storage unit in the 40100 block of Skyline Place on Tuesday, June 16, police said.  One bike is a green Kona Process 153 and the other is a black Kona Supreme Operator.  

Theft of toothbrushes

Four electric toothbrushes worth $200 were stolen in two separate incidents from the Shopper’s Drug Mart of Pemberton Avenue in the days around Monday, June 15, Squamish RCMP said. The investigation to identify the suspect continues.

Court ruling

Erick Pinto Monterroso, 49, of Surrey pleaded guilty on June 19 to driving while prohibited on November 24, 2014 on Highway 99 at Britannia Beach, according to Squamish RCMP. He was given another one-year driving prohibition, a $1,000 fine and was required to pay a $150 victim surcharge, police said.

Fraud case

Mischell Poitras, 35, of Squamish pleaded guilty on June 19 to fraud in relation to an incident that occurred in Squamish on October 4, 2014, according to police. He received a 12-month probation order and was required to pay a victim surcharge of $100, Squamish RCMP said.
