Assault

Two suspects were arrested after an argument between neighbours in the 1900 block of Maple Crescent resulted in a man and a woman being assaulted by two men on Wednesday, July 22, according to Squamish RCMP. An investigation was conducted and assault charges are being recommended, police said.

Driver hurt in crash

A driver was airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a southbound vehicle went off the road near the orange bridge over Culliton Creek at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, July 20, police said. The accident occurred during the heavy southbound traffic returning from the Pemberton Music Festival. The airlift briefly interrupted traffic flow, Squamish RCMP reported.

Stolen vehicle recovered

A man was interrupted while attempting to steal gas from a vehicle on Squamish Valley Road near Hensman Road on Tuesday, July 21, according to Squamish RCMP. The suspect pointed bear spray at the complainant and then took off in a large heavily modified Jeep Wrangler, which had been reported stolen on July 7, police said.

Officers located the Jeep in the driveway of a home on Squamish Valley Road where unrelated stolen property was recovered during a search warrant last week, according to the police report. The Jeep was seized and several further charges related to this incident will be recommended, RCMP said.

Police search for suspect

Police are trying to locate a woman after a Buick Rendezvous was stolen from a residence in the 1400 block of Maple Crescent on Wednesday, July 22. The SUV later crashed into a vehicle parked in a neighbour’s driveway and was abandoned, police said.

A woman was seen running from the scene and yelling “Run” but no other suspect was seen, according to Squamish RCMP.

Police describe the woman as wearing a grey hoodie with a logo and carrying a tan-coloured purse. The stolen vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Cyclist injured in crash

A cyclist was hurt and the rider’s bike was snapped in two after a collision on Saturday, July 25, police said. The cyclist hit a black Kona Caldera at Mamquam Road and Highway 99 when the vehicle exited the highway and turned east on Mamquam Road, police reported. The cyclist, who had minor injuries, admitted being at fault, according to Squamish RCMP. An investigation is being done to determine if the Caldera was stolen, police said.

Fraud/stolen car

A stolen vehicle and credit card were recovered on Sunday, July 26 when, acting on a tip from a citizen, officers checked a suspicious vehicle on Eaglewind Boulevard.  The vehicle had been reported stolen on June 26 from the 39000 block Kingfisher Road.

The victim’s credit card, which was in the vehicle when it was stolen, had been used at the Petro Canada on June 26, police said. Officers are investigating both incidents.
