Grow-op busted
A 45-year-old man was arrested at a residential home and several hundred marijuana plants and a loaded rifle were seized on Friday, Aug. 28, Squamish RCMP reported. Charges of production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking are being recommended, according to police.
Man approaches teen girl
A 16-year-old girl reported that a man approached her on a trail in the Valleycliffe area behind the Cliffside Pub and, after a brief conversation, asked her if she would like to see his penis, RCMP said. During the incident, which occurred on Friday Aug. 26, the girl declined and walked away. The man was described as a thin, 5’9”, Caucasian, 19-20 years old with short brown hair.
Home break-in
A variety of items, including cash and jewelry, were stolen during a residential break and enter in the Garibaldi Heights area that occurred between Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, RCMP reported.
School break-in
A break and enter occurred at the Stawamus school building in the evening on Friday, Aug. 28, police said. RCMP and a police service dog searched the area, but the suspects had fled. Nothing seems to have been taken as the suspects likely left after the security alarm sounded, police said.
Stolen boats recovered
A 30-year-old man from Vancouver was arrested in a stolen boat on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and is to appear in court for possession of stolen property, Squamish RCMP said. Two stolen boats were recovered from an area near the Squamish Yacht Club, according to police.
Drugged driving
A 60-year-old man was detained for driving impaired by drugs and taken to Squamish General Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 29 after the man’s vehicle was involved in a three-car collision on Highway 99 near Clarke Drive, police reported. The investigation is ongoing.
