Bears at high school
Conservation officers tranquilized and moved a bear and three cubs at Howe Sound Secondary School on Friday, Sept. 25, according to police.
Students were kept inside during the incident and were not put in harm’s way, according to police.
Rollover crash
The driver of a southbound vehicle lost control and rolled the vehicle over in the ditch on Highway 99, five kilometres north of Lions Bay, when the driver swerved to avoid a northbound pickup truck that crossed over the centerline on Friday, Sept. 25, RCMP said.
The northbound vehicle did not stop, according to the report. The four occupants in the rollover were not injured.
Assault at casino
A man was arrested and faces charges of assault and mischief after an incident at Chances Casino on Saturday, Sept. 26, police said.
The man smashed glasses and was aggressive toward security staff, according to the police report.
Two-vehicle crash
A man faces a charge of driving while prohibited after a two-vehicle collision at Spruce Drive and Westway Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 22, police reported.
Before law enforcement arrived, one of the drivers asked the other not to call police, Squamish RCMP said.
Copper wire stolen
Copper wire and some surveillance equipment were stolen from the BC Hydro facility at Furry Creek on Wednesday, Sept. 23, police report.
Copper wire has been a target of thefts because its value has risen on the market.
