Crash with snowplow

A scooter driver suffered a minor injury to his left leg in a crash on Highway 99 at Mamquam Road. A Suzuki scooter was crossing the highway at Mamquam Road when it collided with a Ford F-350 truck with a snow plow attached turning left onto the highway from Mamquam on Wednesday, Feb. 24, according to RCMP. The truck began to turn but stopped when the driver saw the scooter. The scooter driver stopped hard and lost control on gravel on the road and slid into the plow blade, police reported.

 

Female assaulted

A man was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 23 after an assault at the skatepark near the Youth Centre, according to Squamish RCMP.

The female victim suffered minor injuries to her neck and back and was taken to hospital, police said. The investigation is ongoing. 

 

Breach of probation

A woman was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 25 for breach of conditions after officers observed a driver of a Mercedes-Benz committing several traffic offences on Cleveland Avenue, according to police.

The Mercedes driver parked along the 1200 block of Hunter Place, where officers intercepted the driver as she walked away from the vehicle, according to Squamish RCMP. She claimed she had not been driving and did not know the owner of the vehicle, according to police. The license validation tag was stolen, police said.

The suspect was in possession of break-in tools, contrary to previous conditions from a Richmond file, according to police. She was identified as an unlicensed driver and was served a driving prohibition, RCMP said.

Attempts to contact the owner of the possibly stolen Mercedes-Benz were not successful. The vehicle was impounded pending further investigation. 

 

Man arrested at skatepark

A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court after officers discovered him while responding to a complaint of youths drinking at the university bridge skatepark in the Garibaldi Highlands on Saturday, Feb. 27. The alcohol discovered with the man was poured out, police said.

After he was arrested, the suspect was released with a new appearance date, according to Squamish RCMP. 

 

Alcohol stolen

Police received a report of a theft of a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka from the BC Liquor Store on Glenalder Place on Friday, Feb. 26. The suspect returned a few minutes later and attempted to take two more bottles, police said. Store staff stopped him on the second attempt and recovered the two bottles.

The suspect has a beard and was wearing a grey hoodie under his jacket, according to Squamish RCMP. The investigation to identify the suspect continues.
