House ransacked
A home on Kintyre Drive was broken into on Tuesday, May 24, Squamish RCMP reported. The small side window in the front of the house had been left open and it's believed that's how the suspect or suspects entered the house, according to RCMP. The house appeared ransacked, but it is unknown at this time what was taken. The matter remains under investigation.
Dog left in hot car
Police responded to a complaint of a dog locked in a black Mercedes parked at the Squamish West Coast Railway Heritage Museum on Sunday, May 29. The owner was located and spoken to about leaving the family pet in the vehicle on a sunny day. Fortunately, the pet was not in distress, RCMP said. With warmer temperatures approaching, police remind people not to leave pets in vehicles.
Mischief at Nexen
The gate to Nexen Beach was damaged by a vehicle that was left parked at Nexen Beach on Monday, May 23, Squamish RCMP reported.
A security guard had taken down the information from the vehicle earlier and then locked the gate for the night, police said. A short while later, the security guard returned to find the gate broken open. Debris from the crash remained at the scene, including the licence plate of the suspect vehicle, according to RCMP.
Police contacted the owner of the vehicle, who has since offered to pay for the damages, according to the report.
Tool theft
A Chevrolet pickup truck with Alberta plates was broken into when it was parked in the 1500 block of Macdonald Place sometime between 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 and 2 a.m. on Monday, May 23. Items taken from the truck include a white and orange Stihl power saw, a wallet containing bank cards and identification, an Apple Mac Book Pro laptop and some miscellaneous tools in a blue Rubbermaid tote, according to RCMP. The matter is under investigation.
Truck break-in
A 2010 Toyota Tundra parked at Levette Lake on Saturday, May 21 was broken into, police said. The owner reported to police that he was away from his vehicle between 12 and 6 p.m. on May 21. The rear window of the truck was smashed and some CDs were stolen, police said.
Rowboat stolen
A white Walker Bay rowboat was stolen on Wednesday, May 25, police said. The approximately eight-foot rowboat was locked on top of a 25-foot fishing boat that was anchored in the Mamquam Blind Channel. Oars, the anchor and the chain were also missing, police said. The boat’s serial number EWVA8783C212 has been entered into the police databank, and the investigation continues.
Bike theft
A black and white Jamisdakar XCT PRO mountain bike worth about $2,500 was stolen from a backyard on Government Road on Thursday, May 26 between 2:30 and 4:30 a.m., according to Squamish RCMP. The serial number of the bike, #WYIH0002, was added to the police databank.
