Fatal collision
One person died from injuries in a single-vehicle accident in Lions Bay during the early hours of Oct. 4.
Squamish RCMP, the West Vancouver Police, the Lions Bay Fire Department and BC Ambulance Services responded to the accident on the Sea to Sky Highway around 4:30 a.m.
Occupants were thrown from the vehicle, and one died days later at Lions Gate Hospital as a result of injuries.
Home break-in
Someone broke into a home on Jura Crescent sometime around Oct. 9. The owner called Squamish RCMP to report the break-and-enter and police attended the scene and conducted a forensic examination. The file remains under investigation.
Vehicle ransacked
A resident of Glacier View Drive called police about 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 9 to report a vehicle break-in in their driveway. Someone ransacked the unlocked vehicle and stole insurance papers, clothing and CDs. Police made inquiries in the neighbourhood and remind people to secure their vehicles to reduce the risk of theft.
Suspects arrested
Police arrested the driver and passenger of a vehicle in downtown Squamish following reports of a vehicle break-in at 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 6. They were following up on reports of a theft in progress on Spit Road in which a man was prying open an unoccupied vehicle’s window.
Police said they found stolen property inside the vehicle, and reported a court breach in connection with the suspects.
They did not release the names of the suspects.
Bike stolen
A business owner from the 1000 block of Highway 99 reported a theft after discovering the door to the business ajar at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 6.
A bike worth $2,000 was stolen, and police photographed the scene and took items for forensic examination. The file is still under investigation.
Wallet theft and fraud
Someone took a wallet from an unoccupied vehicle at Fisherman’s Park at on the morning of Oct. 4. The contents of the wallet were used to commit fraud at a local gas station. Police are obtaining surveillance to identify any suspects.
Mailbox break-in
Private mailboxes at Meigan Creek Estates on Tantalus Road were pried open. Police responded to the call at 12:33 p.m. on Oct. 4. There are no suspects at this time, and the file remains under investigation.
