Batteries stolen
On Friday, Oct. 14, an excavator parked on the side of a logging road around two kilometres from Levette Lake had both of its $500-batteries stolen. All of the compartments of the excavator were open but it appeared that only the batteries were taken, according to police.
Electrified bear
The area around Wilson Crescent in Dentville lost power on Saturday, Oct. 15 after a black bear climbed a telephone pole, proceeded to chew on the wires – and was shocked to learn they were live with electricity, the Squamish RCMP said.
The bear fell, was slightly injured and ran off. According to police, the bear is not a suspect in the theft of batteries from an excavator the day prior, regardless of its interest in electricity.
Diesel theft
The rear windshield of a truck was broken and diesel fuel was possibly stolen while it was left in Wal-Mart’s parking lot overnight on Oct. 4. The owner reported the incident to police the next week.
License plate taken
A validation tag and a rear license plate was stolen from a GMC truck located in the driveway of a residence on MacDonald Place on Thursday, Oct. 13, according to Squamish RCMP.
Vehicle break-in
A vehicle was rummaged through while parked in a driveway on Glacier Drive. The incident likely occurred on Oct. 8 but wasn’t reported until the next week. Although nothing was taken from the vehicle and there was no forced entry, police remind Squamish residents to not store valuables in their vehicles.
