Arrests

Two people were arrested and face charges after Squamish RCMP found a man and a woman loading stolen bikes into a stolen camper van on Squamish Valley Road on Oct. 19. The man and woman were also found to be in possession of a stolen credit card, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and were both breaching court-imposed conditions from a previous police incident.

Christmas marijuana

A vintage consignment store employee was surprised to open the store’s donation bin on Oct. 20 to find about a half-pound of marijuana in a plastic tote with some Christmas lights and other electronics, police said. It is unknown whether the marijuana was left because of a strong spirit of giving or if it was rather an incident of memory loss that led to it being left in the bin, Squamish RCMP said.

Incident at Wal-Mart

Squamish RCMP were informed of a somewhat bizarre attempted theft incident on Oct. 18 in the Squamish Wal-Mart. A man stole a female customer’s jacket from her shopping cart, but then abandoned it near the front of the store and left, police said. The woman who owned the jacket did not note the theft at the time. Squamish RCMP are attempting to identify the man involved and video of the event is being sought.

Guilty conscience theft

A purse, a watch, some clothing and a rear licence plate were stolen from an unoccupied vehicle in the 41300-block of Kingswood Road on Oct. 21 between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m, police said. The purse and the watch were later placed back on the hood of the same car.

More weirdness

A Squamish resident had the licence plates of his car switched with those of a resident of Greater Vancouver, police said. The complainant noted the wrong plates when he was returning to his vehicle on Oct. 24.

It is unknown both why and where the switch occurred but it is possible it happened in Vancouver as the car owner travels to the city frequently, RCMP said.
