Firepower
Late in the evening of Dec. 27, BC Hydro reported a pump house was on fire in the 12000 block of Squamish Valley Road. The fire spread to a nearby power pole causing a service interruption in power to the neighbourhood. Being out of its jurisdiction, the Squamish Fire Department did not attend. Squamish RCMP officers observed that a resident was using his excavator to extinguish the fire by piling snow onto the building. BC Hydro employees later set up a temporary power pole to restore the service to local residences. This incident was deemed not suspicious.
