Caught in the act
A man was caught in the act during a break-in at a home in the 38100-block of Westway Avenue on Jan. 12.
When confronted, the suspect apologized and attempted to leave with some stolen items.
The resident requested the suspect drop the items, which he did before leaving on foot.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, five-feet, seven inches tall, 20 to 30 years old, with a slim build.
He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and drawstring pulled tight to mask his face, dark pants and black gloves.
Theft from luggage
Items were stolen from a woman’s luggage while she was waiting at the Greyhound Bus station located at 40446 Government Rd. Jan. 12.
Stolen items include two pairs of snowboarding pants, a ski jacket, two bottles of wine, a hockey jersey, a GHD hair-straightener and a grey/blue/orange men’s Nike baseball hat.
Impaired driving crash
A two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 on Jan. 15 was a result of drinking and driving, according to Squamish RCMP.
Witnesses of the accident north of Garibaldi Way told officers that the driver of one of the vehicles might be impaired due to his driving behaviour prior to the incident.
Officers questioned the driver and then the driver provided breath samples, which showed his alcohol level to be above the legal limit.
The driver was arrested and charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Theft from vehicle
A woman caught a man going through her vehicle that was parked in her driveway in the 1100-block of Wilson Cres. in Dentville on Jan. 15. The suspect left on foot when caught.
The suspect is described as 65 to 70 years old, Caucasian, five-foot, six inches tall, 100 pounds, with a slim build, black winter boots, blue jeans and a plaid sweater.
Chainsaw stolen
A Stihl chainsaw was stolen from a trailer in the 1000-block of Finch Dr. overnight on Jan. 14.
Police officers arrived and patrolled the area and later found the stolen item on someone else’s property. The saw was returned to its rightful owner.
