Officer assaulted
An intoxicated man assaulted a Sea to Sky traffic services officer on Jan. 24, police said.
The man had been walking along Highway 99 near Porteau Cove, posing a risk to motorists and to his own safety. When the officer stopped to make an assessment, the man was told that he was being arrested for being intoxicated in public. But he resisted arrest, causing injury to the officer, and then ran away.  Coordination between Police Dog Services and Squamish RCMP members helped track him down in a secluded area.
The man was charged for obstruction and resisting arrest under the criminal code.

 Theft from vehicles
A vehicle was broken into overnight on Jan. 26 while parked at the Mountain Retreat Hotel on Progress Avenue. A brown Veto Pro Pac bag containing miscellaneous tools, a black Gerber machete with pouch and a Garmin GPS were stolen from the locked vehicle. Another vehicle was ransacked and items were stolen overnight on Jan. 26 in a private underground parking lot in the 1400-block of Pemberton Avenue.
Items stolen included a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with gold lenses and some random tools.

 Dirt bike stolen
A red Honda XR200R with a blue seat was stolen overnight from a private driveway in the 40700-block of Tantalus Road on Jan. 27.  A lock was cut to steal the non-functioning bike.

 Suspicious behaviour
A woman saw a man looking inside her vehicle while it was parked at the BC Hydro sub-station on Jan. 23.
The suspect was apparently spooked and got into a vehicle nearby where a man was waiting. They quickly left the area. A licence plate number was provided to the police.
