Snowstorm speeder
A Sea to Sky Traffic Services member noticed a Land Rover speeding southbound at on Highway 99 near Industrial Way during the snowstorm on Feb. 4. The SUV was clocked at driving at 98 km/h in a posted 70 km/h, and eventually reached a speed of 120 km/h. The vehicle was intercepted and impounded for excessive speed. The driver, who was using summer tires, was given a ticket. 

Aggressive pit bulls
Two unleashed pit bulls were reported to be acting aggressively when they approached a couple walking their dog on Wind Sail Place in Valleycliffe on Jan. 30, police said. According to the couple, the dogs were charging and chasing people while barking and growling, police said. District of Squamish animal control warned the owner of the pit bulls about his pets’ behaviour. 

 Attempted B&E
Someone attempted to break into a mobile home in the Timbertown Trailer Park on Mamquam Road during the day on Feb. 1. The homeowner reported that his doorframe and deadbolt had been damaged, but no one broke in. Nothing was stolen.

 Gas tank drilled

A hole was drilled the gas tank of a man’s truck overnight on Feb. 2. The truck was parked on Tantalus Road and the mischief was noticed when the owner tried to start his vehicle and the gauge showed an empty gas tank. When refilling with gas, the man saw gas leaking from the undercarriage. No other vehicles parked on the street were damaged.

 Tailgate stolen 

A man’s tailgate off of his 2017 red Ford F350 was stolen over the weekend of Jan. 28 to 30 while his vehicle was parked near his residence in the 300-block of Kelvin Grove Way, police said.
