Two related break-ins
Squamish RCMP investigated two break-and-enter offences overnight on April 4 and April 5 in the downtown core. One break-in occurred at a street-level business in the 3800 block of Second Avenue, where about $800 worth of tools was stolen. The other occurred in another business in the 3800 block of Third Avenue. In the second case, the business was looted, but the suspect didn’t find anything of value.  These offences are suspected to be related and are being further investigated.

Fire under bridge
Police officers found two men beside a recreational fire under the Mamquam River Bridge on April 9. The men were warned about unauthorized fires, both in terms of the fire being in an unauthorized area and the danger of the smoke from the fire obstructing the views of drivers above it. The men were receptive to the safety message.

Bike theft
A black bicycle with purple accents and Giant brand headset components was stolen by a woman from a frontyard in the 1000 block of McNamee Place on April 5 sometime between 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.

Plates don’t match
A driver was issued a Notice and Order, a provincial document, compelling him to fix the situation with his licence plates. The driver’s van had different front and rear licence plates when it was stopped near the landfill, police said. The driver told police he was unaware of his licence plate situation.

Awning stolen
An awning was ripped off an RV at the Eagle Vista campground between March 31 to April 1, police said.

Anyone with information relating to any of these incidents or other crimes is encouraged to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
