Elk killed in crash
A motorbike rider was seriously injured and an elk was killed in an accident on the Sea to Sky Highway on April 11.
The motorcyclist hit the Roosevelt elk in the southbound lane of Highway 99 at Commercial Way.
When police arrived the motorcyclist was off to the side of the highway, according to Staff Sgt. Jolaine Percival, and the dead elk was a short distance away on the shoulder of the highway.
The driver sustained injured ribs, fingers and wrists, but was conscious and receiving medical assistance when police arrived. He was transported by air ambulance to Vancouver General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Percival said.

Attempted entry
On April 11, for the third time since January, someone attempted to gain access to a home in the 40400 block of Perth Drive. Around 1 a.m., the occupants heard somebody using the entry electronic keypad at the rear of the property. The keypad beeped after repetitive failed attempts at its code and the suspect left the area.

Stolen truck
A truck was stolen while it was parked roadside in the 40400 block of Government Road between 6:45 and 10:30 p.m. on April 11, police said.  The white Dodge RAM 2500 is a diesel truck, has custom black rims, over-sized tires, an exterior cab and a black sled deck. It has a B.C. licence plate KC2639.

Overturned kayak
Squamish RCMP was advised of an overturned empty kayak in the middle of the Cheakamus Canyon River on April 14. Squamish Search and Rescue was called out and it was decided it would not be safe to try to retrieve the boat.
Given the location of the kayak, it was likely that the kayak’s owner had abandoned the boat and swam to shore to avoid travelling through the rapids. No kayaker has been reported missing.

Attempted C-Can B&E
Squamish RCMP members discovered an unlocked C-Can at the back of Howe Sound Secondary on April 15, police said. Officers noticed the lock had recently been cut, but no entry was gained.
The container had been seen locked earlier in the evening, according to Squamish RCMP. Police believe officers on patrol might have interrupted the offence.

Storage Area break-in
A storage area in the 38900 block of Queens Way was broken into on April 15. A suspect attempted to access several RVs stored on the lot, but none were broken into. Police believe that entry to the lot was gained through a hole cut in the chainlink fence.  A siphoning gas hose was found near a vehicle that was missing a gas cap.
