Slow down
The Squamish RCMP and Sea to Sky Traffic Services have seen a significant increasing in speeding in the corridor. Under the motor vehicle act, if you are found to be driving in excessive of 40 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit your vehicle will be impounded for seven days, issued a $368 ticket and multiple points will be taken off your driver’s licence. People who drive at such speeds not only put themselves at risk, but they create an extensive risk to the public.

Assault and theft
A man assaulted a gas station clerk and fled during a robbery on May 19 at 9:16 p.m., police said. He attempted to steal items and was confronted by the clerk. The man is described as 30 to 32 years old, with short brown hair and a beard, wearing a white hoodie and blue jeans.

Hot dogs
Squamish RCMP received four animals in distress calls from various locations in the Sea to Sky Corridor on May 20. Concerned people called to report dogs left in vehicles with no water and little or no ventilation. The temperature inside vehicles can quickly increase to 40 degrees Celsius and dogs can be distressed in less than 10 minutes. Please leave your pets at home.

Firearms stolen
Squamish RCMP are seeking witnesses and information from the public after two rifles were stolen from a home on Newport Drive during a break-and-enter sometime between May 17 and 18. Several items were taken, including financial documents and the two rifles.
