Guns stolen

Two firearms were stolen from a vehicle that was parked for about an hour at the Chances Casino parking lot on June 12, police say.

One of the guns was found by a hiker on a nearby trail a few days later and the second firearm was found with the help of a police dog.

The theft may have been captured by security cameras around the building, and RCMP are continuing their investigation.

Nine vehicles broken into

There were thefts from about nine vehicles in the 900-block of Thistle Place in Britannia Beach overnight on June 13, according to police. Garage door openers, an iPod, a wallet, vehicle and business keys, and personal documentation were all taken.

In a separate theft that day, police say a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 40100-block of Glenalder Place.

Officers say the purse was later found in downtown Squamish with its contents thrown all over a parking lot.

Bank cards, a birth certificate and cash were stolen.

Hole in the ground

Someone dug a hole underneath the fence and gained access to the Squamish Reservoir between June 13 and June 14, police say.

No property has been stolen but several garbage items were located in the area.

The reservoir hatch was not compromised or accessed.

Possible sabotage

RCMP say there’s been a report of someone loosening wheel nuts on a vehicle on June 17.

A complainant reported this might’ve happened when she was parked at the Squamish Library.

She later brought her vehicle to a mechanic, who said this has been happening repeatedly in town.

Break and enter

Police say an employee interrupted two men who allegedly tried to steal a forklift in what officers are calling a break and enter on June 18.

The alleged thieves tried taking the equipment from a business in the 59000-block of Squamish Valley, say RCMP.

The suspects ran off before police arrived.

Vehicle on fire

An engine caught fire after a vehicle broke down on the Sea to Sky Highway on June 18.

RCMP and the Squamish fire department put out the vehicle fire, which was on the intersection of Garibaldi Way.

The incident has been deemed not suspicious by officers.
