THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Squamish RCMP was dispatched after a report of an alleged theft from vehicle at the Squamish Adventure Centre on June 27.
Police say the complainant told officers a black Metolius Recon rock climbing crash pad had been stolen from the roof rack of his vehicle that was parked unattended between 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
FAKE LICENCE PLATE
Squamish RCMP say officer found a cube van to be displaying a fake unregistered British Columbia licence plate on the 30100 block of highway 99.
Police say they arrived at the scene after receiving a report that a white cube van was partially parked in a ditch.
Officers say they found the registered owner has past history in using fake licence plates.
The vehicle was seized for investigation.
ABANDONED BOAT
A boat was abandoned at the Squamish Marina on the Government dock side on June 30, according to Squamish RCMP.
Police say they were told the boat arrived and had been left there unattended, tied up with a small rope.
The vessel is described as a 17’5 Bowrider registered in Washington which has been seized under fisheries’ regulations.
The boat owner has not been identified yet.
THEFT FROM VEHICLES
At least six vehicles were broken into overnight while parked at the Garibaldi Park parking lot located at the end of Black Tusk Rd on July 2, according to Squamish RCMP.
Police say all vehicles had a broken window and appeared to have been rummaged through.
Officers say two vehicle owners told police climbing gear was stolen.
Other vehicle owners are requested to contact the Squamish RCMP to report the incident along with a list of stolen property.
HOT DOG
Police say someone reported a small dog had been left in a vehicle in a public parking lot for at least 10 minutes on July 2.
The vehicle had all windows rolled up while it was hot outside.
Officers say they attended and eventually found the vehicle owner who quickly returned and freed the dog, which didn’t appear in distress at that point.
The vehicle owner was given a stern warning and advised of possible consequences.
BUSINESS BREAK & ENTER
Squamish RCMP say officers responded to an alarm at the Crabapple Café located at 41701 Government Rd at about 1:30 a.m. on July 2.
Police say the front door window had been smashed with a rock.
Only liquor was stolen from the premises and some items were seized for investigational purpose, according to officers.
STOLEN VEHICLE FOUND
Squamish RCMP say they found a vehicle that had been stolen overnight from Richmond.
Officers say they saw a green 2006 Ford F350, in downtown Squamish at around 2 p.m. on July 4.
Police say officers followed the until the vehicle sped off southbound from Mamquam road on Hwy 99.
Out of concern for public safety, RCMP didn’t chase the vehicle, police say.
Officers say the vehicle was located later abandoned at the Home Depot parking lot.
Police say they are following up with a suspect and video surveillance of the area.
