Climbers rescued

Two men who were stuck on the north face of Mount Harvey were rescued on Tuesday, July 4, police say.

The hikers had reached an ice patch and due to the lack of equipment were unable to climb down the mountain.

Lions Bay SAR and North Shore SAR were able to safely rescue the men.

The Squamish RCMP has seen a significant increase over the last number of weeks in Search and Rescue calls and would like to remind those seeking adventure in the Sea to Sky Corridor to know their limitations, be well prepared, and notify someone of their itineraries.

Egg and smash

The RCMP responded to two incidents of mischief in Dentville on Monday, July 3.

First, some individuals were opening a vehicle gas cap in front a of home on Britannia Avenue, police say.

The homeowners later found that eggs had been thrown at their vehicles.

A few minutes later, a vehicle on Wilson Crescent had its back window smashed.

The RCMP believe the two files may be connected and are continuing to investigate.

Campers ignore fire ban

On Sunday, July 9, the Squamish RCMP were made aware of a group of campers having a campfire on the west side of Brohm Lake.

RCMP members as well as Squamish Fire attended and found campers on the trail.

Squamish Fire  found a campfire in the middle of the trail on the west side of the lake and noted it was still smoldering and had been abandoned.

The group was given a Wildfire Act ticket.

Squamish RCMP would like to stress the fire ban in place for the Province of British Columbia.

Violators can face fines up to $1,150.

Also of note, camping is not allowed in Provincial Parks unless there is a designated campground.

Keyed truck

A truck was keyed while parked in the marina parking lot on Loggers Lane in the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28.

The damage to the truck was along the length of the driver’s door.
