Squamish RCMP attended a complaint at a gas station about a man who had thrown his cigarette out of the window of his vehicle on July 10.
Officers say a witness was able to obtain the licence plate number of the vehicle the man was driving. RCMP members later went to the address of the driver and he was issued a $575 fine under the Wildfire Act.
In a separate incident the following day, a witness reported a driver throwing a cigarette out of his vehicle on Highway 99. The driver was located and issued a $575 fine under the Wildfire Act.
The Squamish RCMP cannot stress enough the extreme fire hazard in the province and there will be a zero-tolerance policy for any offences under the Wildfire Act.
Theft from Vehicle
A man reported that his vehicle was broken into on Parkway Road between July 8th and July 12. The man, who made the report on July 13, said his golf clubs and Titleist Golf Bag had been stolen out of his backseat.
Stolen Bike
RCMP received a report of a stolen bicycle which was locked up by The Chieftain in downtown Squamish on July 13.
The bike was described as a 2010 Ladies Marin MT Vision 5.8 with a green basket on the front.
The bike is quite unique and if anyone sees it around Squamish or area please call the police.
Fuel for thought
Squamish police were notified on July 14 that within the previous five days, someone had siphoned 60 gallons of aircraft gasoline from an airplane located at the Squamish Airport.
Campfire at Alice Lake
Officers received a report of a group of 15 campers at Alice Lake refusing to leave.
The group was burning wood in a camp site pit despite the numerous warnings about the fire ban in B.C. The campers were issued a $1150 fine under the Wildfire Act.

on Phone, hit by Vehicle
A male who was believed to be looking at his phone was struck by a vehicle on Cleveland Avenue, police say.
On July 14, the male was watching a video, ran across the street and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, officers say.
The male was transported to Squamish General Hospital with minor injuries.
