PROHIBITED DRIVER
Squamish RCMP responded to a call of a motorcycle that lost control and crashed on Mamquam road on Sept. 11.
Police say the driver was identified and given medical assistance for moderate injuries.
Afterwards, this person was arrested after allegedly being medically cleared for being prohibited from driving Canada-wide.
The driver was released on a promise to appear in court and returned to medical care for further assessment.
THEFT OF COPPER WIRE
A large amount of fibre optic cable had been stolen from an area adjacent to the Squamish cemetery on Sept. 12th.
The wire is described as about 30 feet of a combination of 22 and 24 gauge copper industrial fibre optic cable.
THEFT FROM AUTO
Squamish RCMP received a report of a theft from a vehicle parked near Daisy Lake road on Sept. 13.
Two passports and wallets with credit cards were stolen, police say.
The credit cards were subsequently used in fraudulent transactions, officers say.
This matter is still being investigated.
COUGAR SIGHTING
A cougar was sighted in the front yard of a resident of Perth Drive on Sept. 16, prompting police to arrive at the scene.
The cougar was watched as it travelled toward Rhum & Eigg Drive where the resident lost sight of it.
The cougar was not noted to be acting aggressively and was not located by either the RCMP or the Conservation Officer Service, who also was advised of this event.
PONY TALE
In a desperate bid for freedom, an inmate from Finch Drive and Loggers Lane escaped from a cell.
On Sept. 13, Squamish RCMP were called to apprehend an escaped pony.
Officers say the pony had chased alongside a person running.
The incident was confirmed to not be a new type of event or race of any kind and was in actuality a pony and a jogger enjoying one of the last sunny days in September.
The pony was returned to its stable shortly afterwards.
