Suspect arrested
Squamish RCMP arrested all occupants of a vehicle southbound on Highway 99 after Whistler RCMP asked for help finding an automobile allegedly connected to a break and enter.
The driver was charged for the breaking and entering and driving while prohibited.
The Oct. 5 arrest happened after Whistler officers told Squamish police a break and enter to a business was interrupted.
Whistler officers provided a description – including the licence plate – of a vehicle that allegedly left the scene.
Vehicle on fire
Fire department and Squamish RCMP responded to a vehicle on fire on highway 99 at Darrell Bay on Oct. 2.
The driver told officers he was travelling southbound in his 1975 Porsche when he suddenly smelled an odour of fuel inside his vehicle, police say.
Police say when he stopped to inspect the engine, the hood blew off and the front end of the vehicle burst into flame.
The vehicle was a total loss but the driver didn’t sustain any injuries.
Break and enter
Police say a break and enter occurred in a residence between Sept. 28 and 29 in the 1200-block of Main Street in Squamish.
Officers say a suspect got ahold of the garage opener left in the family vehicle to gain access to the garage.
Some of the stolen items were later recovered in the neighbourhood but a bicycle is still missing.
Attempted fraud
A male impersonating the Canada Revenue Agency contacted a Squamish resident alleging a debt to the federal Government on Oct. 4, Squamish RCMP say.
The suspect informed the victim that a warrant had been issued for his arrest due to approximately $3,000 being owed.
The suspect obtained some personal information from the victim who later understood the fraud.
Preventive measures were put in place by the victim to protect his financial identity.
Theft from vehicle
Police say a theft from a vehicle occurred between Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 6 at 8:00 a.m. in the 40800-block of The Crescent in Squamish.
The victim reported that three high-value rings were stolen from the vehicle, which might have been left unlocked. officers say.
