Theft on Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th certainly lived up to its namesake for one resident.
On that day, two bicycles were stolen from a residential garage in the 1000 block of Tobermory Way, according to police.
The first bike is a white, black and purple Scott Contessa mountain bike and the second is a white and silver XL Men’s Giant Trance mountain bike.
The residence owner later noticed that his vehicle was rummaged through, a gift card, money and Ray Ban sunglasses were stolen, officers say.
Thefts from vehicles
An alleged theft from a motor vehicle occurred in the 1100-block of Wingtip Place in Squamish, between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.
Police say two HP laptops, two credit cards were stolen and eventually used in a local business. The vehicle was most likely left unlocked while parked overnight at the residence, officers say.
In a separate, unrelated incident, a vehicle was broken into while parked in a residential driveway located in the 1000-block of Glacier View Drive on Oct. 15, police say.
The locks on the canopy were forced open and a full set of Dewalt power tools were stolen, officers say.
Hit and run
A semi-truck was observed allegedly striking a BC Hydro pole and driving away at the intersection of Garibaldi Way and Mamquam Rd on Oct. 10, police say.
The alleged offender’s licence plate was provided to Squamish RCMP and officers were able to locate the vehicle parked at a local business.
Police and BC Hydro attended the scene, confirming the pole to be stable until its replacement.
The damage is alleged to cost $15,000, officers say.
A local company was issued a violation ticket for failing to stop in an accident resulting in damage to property under the Motor Vehicle Act, police say.
Smoking stolen vehicle
Smoke was coming out of an unoccupied vehicle that police allege to have been stolen on Oct. 14.
RCMP were told the vehicle was on the 40600-block of Government Road on Oct. 14.
Squamish RCMP and Squamish Fire Department attended.
Police say that officers found the blue 1995 Chevrolet Lumina had been stolen out of North Vancouver in February 2017 and that it was displaying stolen British-Columbia licence plate from a Squamish vehicle.
