Thefts from vehicles

Squamish RCMP say items were stolen from five vehicles overnight on Oct. 23.

All incidents were along various locations on Government Road. Various items were taken from the vehicles.

There has been an increase in theft from vehicles in the last month and police are asking the residents to ensure their vehicles are locked and valuables are not left in their vehicles.

Break and enters

Two days, two break and enters.

In the first case, a Britannia Beach business was broken into on Oct. 24, according to police.

Squamish RCMP say the front door was found open and that a computer and office supplies were found to be missing.

This was the second time in months the business was broken into, officers say.

Police are asking for the residents of Britannia Beach to call police if they see anything suspicious in their neighbourhood.

In a separate, unrelated case, officers say a home in the Garibaldi Highlands was broken into on Oct. 25.

Police say they were told that several items were taken from a back shed in the Perth Drive area.

 The investigation continues.

RCMP are urging the public to ensure they secure items in their yards and lock their sheds and garages.

Speeding

Squamish RCMP were conducting speed enforcement in Squamish and stopped a male who was found going 135 kilometres per hour in a 60-kilometre zone on Oct. 24.

The male driver was given a speeding ticket and his vehicle was then impounded for seven days.

Impaired driving collision

A male was investigated for alleged impaired driving, according to officers.

Squamish RCMP say they were notified of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in the south area of Squamish on Oct. 29.  When police arrived, they found the driver of one of the vehicles had left the scene, according to officers.

The male was located by police a short time later.

He was taken into custody but later released.

This is a random sampling of cases reported  to Squamish RCMP in the past week.
