COLLISION

A vehicle is believed to have spun and collided with traffic signs before entering a ditch along Highway 99, about four kilometres north of Lion’s Bay on Nov. 27.

Police say the driver did not suffer any injuries and remained on scene until officers arrived. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the incident.

 

 

HIT AND RUN 

RCMP say a black Jeep allegedly hit a pedestrian in the McDonald’s parking lot at 10:50 a.m. on Nov. 27.

Police say the person behind the wheel drove away after yelling at the pedestrian.

RCMP describe the driver as a white man with black hair who is about 30 years old.

Officers are trying to find the man.

 

STREET RACING 

Police are accusing a driver of street racing after RCMP caught a vehicle driving more than 170 kilometres per hour in a 90 kilometre zone on Highway 99 near Furry Creek.

The alleged offence, which occurred on Nov. 27, led to a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. 

Authorities imposed a 15-day driving prohibition and impounded the vehicle for seven days.

 

 

MACHETE MAN ARRESTED

A man carrying two machetes was arrested while he was walking southbound on Highway 99 on Nov. 29.

After receiving a report of a suspicious person, police stopped the man while he was entering a vehicle that had stopped for him. RCMP say the male was known to police and arrested on outstanding arrest warrants and breaching his bail conditions.

 

STOLEN BICYCLE UNDER $5,000 

A 26-inch yellow Cannondale mountain bike with a half fork was stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 37900-block of Magnolia Crescent on Nov. 30.

The bicycle has not been recovered.

 

STEALING ITEMS IN A VEHICLE

A vehicle was broken into while parked in a back parking lot on Tantalus Road on Dec. 1, police say.

Suspects smashed the passenger side window and stole Sorel boots, a Lululemon bag containing leather boots and headphones. 

The collective value was under $5,000.

The items have not been recovered.

 

 

B & E, THEFT OF MOTORCYCLES 

A black and green Kawasaki KX295 dirt bike with a Monster energy drink decal and a blue and white youth Yamaha 80cc dirt bike were stolen, police say.

The robbery happened after a shed in the 37900-block of Magnolia Crescent was broken into overnight on Dec. 1.

The dirt bikes, which are worth more than $5,000 altogether, have not been recovered.
