Slow down at schools
Squamish RCMP Municipal Traffic Section was conducting speed enforcement in Squamish on Jan. 29 and 30.
Police say a large number of infractions were noted in the school zone and police want to notify the public to be aware in school zones, that the speed limit is 30 km/h.
If you are found to be speeding in a school zone you could face a fine up to $253 and 3 demerit points off your licence. The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $368.
Squamish RCMP continues to receive complaints about speeding in school zones on a weekly basis.
Stolen snowmobile
A snowmobile was stolen from the 1800-block of Mamquam Road in Squamish on Jan. 31, police say. The owner believed the snowmobile was taken in the early morning hours but did not notice it was taken until the next morning.
The snowmobile is described as a 2017 black Skidoo with BC licence plate 3C9491.
Officers are asking anyone with information on its whereabouts to call the Squamish RCMP.
Impaired driver possessing drugs
A Squamish resident was arrested for allegedly being in possession of drugs on Jan. 31, police say.
The resident, who was in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle on Fernwood Road, received a 24-hour driving suspension.
Officers investigated the suspect for impaired driving and impounded his vehicle.
The suspect was released with a court date in the next few months.
Shed B & E
A shed on Laurelwood Road was broken into on Feb. 1, RCMP say.
Inside the shed, police found a dirt bike that was believed to have been stolen from a previous break-and-enter at a separate location.
Police are asking anyone with information to please call the Squamish RCMP.
Stolen safari van
A van was taken from a parking lot in the 38000-block Westway Avenue on Feb. 2, police say.
The van was described as a dark grey 2001 GMC Safari Van with BC Licence Plate AM098D.
