COMPUTER FRAUD

Squamish RCMP are investigating an alleged online scam after someone was duped out of $250 on May 31.

The person paid the fee after a popup said the user’s computer had been compromised and needed updating.

A second case with similar circumstances also occurred.

In both cases, RCMP were informed of the matter.

ROCK SLIDE IN LIONS BAY

Small boulders fell on the stretch of Highway 99 north by Lions Bay.

A driver was located up the road with a shredded tire from running over a boulder. 

Squamish RCMP and West Vancouver police cleared the debris off the road.

If you see you see boulders on the road please report these to police or Miller Capilano, the company which maintains the Sea to Sky Highway.

 

RAIL SPIKES AND FIRE

RCMP say they found railway spikes on the tracks near Bowen Avenue in Squamish on June 1 around 3:50 a.m.

As police were searching the area, a smouldering fire was located next to the tracks. 

Police were unsure if the incidents were connected, but expressed concern for the safety of the trains coming through the community as well as those around the tracks.

 

SHOTS FIRED

Squamish RCMP were told shots were fired on the Shannon Creek FSR on June 2, at 1 p.m.   Officers located two males from Vancouver. 

Police say the males had four rifles and were allegedly firing in an area they weren’t allowed.  Officers ticketed them for Discharge of a Firearm in a No Shooting Area under the Wildlife Act, which is a $345 fine.

 

B & E, EXPENSIVE BIKE STOLEN

RCMP are investigating an alleged break-and-enter after three mountain bikes were taken from a garage overnight.

On June 3, officers were told the incident happened on the 40000-block of Government Road.

The following bikes went missing: a black and grey Knolly Warden with orange markings; a black and red Rocky Mountain Altitude with black rims and pedals; and a dark green Liv Hail 2 with purple pedals.
