A man was airlifted to hospital after trying to take a selfie.

On Aug. 31, he contacted BC Ambulance at around 4:50 a.m. to report he had fallen off the Furry Creek Bridge into a creek bed while taking a photograph of himself.

Squamish RCMP was alerted and attended to the location just off the highway.

BC Ambulance, Britannia Beach Fire, and Squamish SAR also responded to rescue the man, who suffered serious injuries.

He was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital.

Theft from vehicle at Levette Lake

Someone broke into a white Toyota Tacoma while its owner was camping at Levette Lake on Aug. 27.

The complainant reported that his passenger side window had been smashed and several items had been taken, including a pink wallet, and iPad Pro with keyboard and camping gear.

Several cards from the wallet were later used at Petro Canada and Home Depot in Squamish.

Stolen Volkswagen found in Delta

The owner of a Volkswagen Golf told police his car was taken from his driveway on Edgewater Crescent on Aug. 30.

Officers found the vehicle unoccupied on the border of Delta and Surrey a few days later.

Police say there has been an increase in stolen vehicles in the Squamish area over the last few months.

Diesel theft from bus at Quest

Police say someone punched or drilled a hole in the fuel tank of a bus on Aug. 30.

A bus driver tried to refill the vehicle, which had been parked at Quest University and found that fuel appeared to be leaking out of a hole in the tank.

The complainant added it was strange to have to fill up the fuel tank as it had been full the previous day and believed the diesel had taken.

Squamish RCMP found a group of youth drinking alcohol at the Squamish skatepark on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

Officers say they received a complaint regarding people smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol at the Youth Skate Park on Carson Place.
