Runaway driver
Police allege a driver behind the wheel of an orange Dodge Challenger sped away from officers on Nov. 18.
RCMP are still looking for the suspect and have opened an investigation for dangerously operating a motor vehicle and failing to stop, among other offences.
Squamish officers were checking the vehicle at Highway 99 and Garibaldi Way and noted the registered owner of the vehicle was prohibited from driving.
The suspect drove off after that.
Abandoned property
Two tents and various items were abandoned at the 6.5-kilometre junction on the Rubble Creek Trail in Garibaldi Provincial Park.
Police were contacted about the matter on Nov. 14, but the property was first noticed on Nov. 8 and collected later after a GoPro camera from the same location was turned in.
Officers found footage in the GoPro camera that showed Hispanic males, a Mexican flag and a male wearing a shirt with “Rico” on it.
No information had been received regarding anyone missing in the area, and no vehicles were located which would have been used by the individuals.
Police found a World Famous tent fly; an orange and black Firelite tent; a blue and grey Orion tent; clothing; pillows; blankets; a Monster camera; and a sleeping bag.
If anyone has details about seeing these items or the people who own them, please contact police.
Kids’ bikes stolen
Two children’s mountain bikes were taken from behind the Women’s Centre on Third Avenue on Nov. 16, police say.
Both missing bikes are Konas.
The first is a 24-inch white and purple bike. The second is a 20-inch black and blue mountain bike that has a blue tire on the back and a black one on the front.
Safety first, longboarders
Nine longboarders were given a warning by police after the skaters rolled down Copper Drive in Britannia Beach.
Police went to the scene after a concerned resident gave RCMP a call on Nov. 18.
