Break and enter suspect arrested
A man was arrested on Feb. 19. At 9:40 a.m., the RCMP were called about a break and enter at a business on the 1200 block of Hunter Place, where someone had a video of a suspect stealing items from an office. A man matching the description was arrested on scene for break and enter and theft under $5,000. The suspect was released with a court date.
Skating on thin ice
As a group played hockey on Murrin Lake on Feb. 18, Squamish RCMP received multiple calls from people concerned the ice was too thin. In a press release, the RCMP said they have safety concerns about activities on frozen lakes in Squamish. Although the area has had snowfall recently, the temperatures on Feb. 18 were above freezing and the depth of the ice on Murrin Lake was unknown.
Vancouver driver busted for speeding
The Squamish RCMP responded to only one excessive speeding incident when, on Feb. 18, traffic services clocked an Audi driving 146 kilometres per hour — in an 80 kilometre zone. The driver from Vancouver was pulled over on Highway 99 near Porteau Road, issued a ticket and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
Double double, parking trouble?
On Feb. 20, a vehicle owner reported a theft from their truck when it was parked at the Tim Hortons on Progress Way the day before. They said they were parked at the café around 5 p.m. when a Dakine bag holding a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was stolen out of their white Dodge Ram.
