Assault
A 26-year-old Squamish male was arrested and charged with the assault of a 27-year-old Squamish male on Saturday, Nov. 22 at approximately 7 p.m., according to the RCMP. The incident took place at Wal-Mart earlier in the day, when an argument over a past situation involving a woman escalated to a physical assault between the two men, according to police. The accused was released with a pending court date.
Mail Theft
Someone broke into a mailbox in the 38000 block of Westway Avenue on Wednesday, Nov. 19. It is not known what was stolen, but the mailbox lock was tampered with and damaged, according to RCMP. Police ask Squamish residents to be extra wary about their mailboxes and report any suspicious individuals or possible tampering with their boxes. In the past, thieves have targeted multiple boxes in different areas.
Hotel break and enter
An electric guitar and sheet music worth about $300 were stolen from a hotel room in the 38000 block of Third Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Entrance to the room was gained through an unlocked window, according to police, who are waiting for more information from the victim in this incident.
Business break and enter
A business was broken into in the 41000 block of Government Road and approximately $1,500 worth of coffee product was stolen during the night of Wednesday, Nov. 19. According to police, a back door may have been left unlocked and appears to have been the way entry was gained.
