The Squamish RCMP arrested a woman on Jan. 3 in connection with the hold-up of the Bosley's Pet Food store back in October.

Days after the robbery Cpl. Ritchie reported the suspect entered the store close to closing time, produced a weapon and demanded money. Ritchie said she took an undetermined amount of money and fled from the scene.

Michelle Louise Laws, 24, was charged in connection with the robbery at the store in the Squamish Station Mall. Laws was released after promising to appear in court again on Wednesday (Jan. 16).

Six vehicles crash at construction site

Two Squamish residents were taken to hospital on Saturday (Feb. 5) when a chain-reaction crash took place at the Hwy. 99 construction zone between Lions Bay and Sunset Marina.

Cpl. Ritchie said the incident happened at 2:57 p.m. in the northbound lane.

Two of the vehicles involved were from the Lower Mainland, three were from Squamish and one was from Lions Bay.

The two people taken to Lions Gate Hospital were both male drivers from Squamish. Ritchie said a 46-year-old man suffered leg, neck and back injuries and a 76-year-old suffered a whiplash injury.

The incident is under investigation.

Ritchie said speeding at the construction zone is an issue. Extra enforcement initiatives are in place at the construction zone. Ritchie said a speed-reader board at the site is doing a good job of making people aware of how fast they are traveling. The RCMP is encouraging drivers to obey the 50 km-h speed limit through the 7-km work zone.

Drivers are encouraged to follow the speed limit signs in the construction zone.
