The motorcycle driver sustained a broken ankle and his female passenger received a head injury that paramedics on the scene felt may have been serious, so she was taken by helicopter to Vancouver General Hospital. Highway 99 was closed in both directions while a helicopter was brought in, and while a collision analysis unit attended to examine the scene, according to police. At 8:15 p.m. the remaining southbound lane was opened.
