Police briefs: Impaired drivers charged

Rollover with injury
A man was hurt when his vehicle flipped on the Squamish Valley Road on Sunday, May 17, according to Squamish RCMP. The driver had minor injuries. The man seemed drunk, police said, and so charges of impaired driving were recommended by police.

A person was thrown into a windshield and injured during a fight, Sunday, May 17,
at Riverside Valley Campground in the Squamish Valley, police said. The fight involved several people and an investigation is on going, police said.

Discharge of firearms
Police received two reports of shots being fired Saturday, May 16 in the area of the Mamquam Forest Service Road. A group of four people was located in the second incident but was not shooting at the time and was not in contravention of any laws, according to RCMP. The group was asked to ensure they shoot in a safe area well away from trails and other recreational sites.

Impaired driving
Several driving prohibitions were issued and vehicles impounded as a result of impaired driving investigations on Friday, May 15 in the Squamish Valley, police say.  The Squamish RCMP, working with the Conservation Service and Ministry of Forest and Natural Resources, conducted investigations in an effort to stop excessive partying in the area, police said.

More impaired driving
Eight drunk drivers were caught, given license prohibitions and had vehicles impounded during Squamish RCMP roadblocks at different locations around Squamish on Thursday, May 14.
